In Memory of Tyron

Mr Tyron Dziurznski  01 Dec 1930 - 08 Mar 2011  (79)
Lion's Den has lost one of their residents this week.  He will be missed by all.  He was a resident for the last 10 years or so.
Tyron took some getting used to until you got to know him.  He was loud, abrasive but that was his way, self defensive.  He had a heart of gold & was an old softie once you got to know him.  He was an intelligent man in lot of things.
One lady told me at her on birthday he was generous.
He was into numerology and would do you a reading.
When he able to he loved to play carpet bowling on Tuesday morning and harass his friends.
So please take the time raise your glass to Tyron not Tyrone, he made sure you said his name properly, lol.
Now I found out he was registered as Ted Dziurznski in the Lion's books.
So Tyron make sure St Peter gets it right at the gate when you arrive ;o)

Annual 55+ picnic at Trout Lake

Food was Church's chicken with potato salad, coleslaw & buns. Also included were watermelon, pineapple, cantelope, blueberries, cherries and strawberries. Bottled water was also provided.
All the picnic tables at the picnic site were full. There may have been 50-60. Some left right after the food.
Some played cards others tried their hand at bocce. Croquette mallets were also provided.
It was a beautiful day for a picnic.

June 19th Volunteer Lunch

Friday they combined the lunch at the Lion's Den with Fathers day & thanking the volunteers at both the Lion's & Al Mattison lounge. It was a nice luncheon & great music as well. Great to get together with old friends before the summer begins & just to chat with.
I wish to say that not all my pics came out great as I was trying not to use a flash & as well most people were moving too much instead of getting them to stand still. So I apologize in advance.
As well I can't recall everyone's name, so bare with me. You know who is who anyways, lol ;).

Special cake for us & it was great.

This gentleman above is Jack Ickringill, has received in the past lifetime membership pin of the Lion's Club of Vancouver.

Virginia here is singing my praises, lol. Probably hoping for more of my soup soon. That is me (Laurette) with Carolynn.

What a lunch!!!

OMG what a feast we had. It was a 3 course meal with dessert afterwards. We started with small plate of pasta, salad & then main course was chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto with veggies & small roasted potatoes.
These 3 ladies were great & volunteers as well.
After we had entertainment by Patrizia, who is great & gets them all dancing as well.

Let me tell you some of these ladies are in their 80's but love to dance.

Lion's Den BBQ

Today was the BBQ & we had fun. The building has this lovely large patio with wonderful garden tended by one of the residents. This is her hobby & passion. Roses bushes were in full bloom & lovely scented. We had choice of hot dogs with coleslaw & potato salad. Afterwards we had watermelon & choice of ice cream. We also played several games for a laugh. As well we had Patty Wing entertaining us later with sing along etc.. He played at the Pub Nite.

This was one of the silly games lol

The medal winners going for the gold!
