Walking Club 19 Jun Minoru Park, Richmond BC
We went to Minoru park in Richmond taking the number 20 bus to Broadway Station and caught the 99 (Canada Line) to Richmond shopping centre. We walked through the mall to the west side of the mall, then one block past Minoru street to Minoru park. Across from the mall there is a public walkway to Minoru Park. At one end of park there is a playground ( children's playground, track oval, softball diamond, and field to play cricket which was happening on today. Had our lunch at one of the picnic tables and then walk north through the park and came to a lake. We saw a rabbit running from some children trying to catch it, and family of Canada geese with 3 babies. We saw an Indo Canadian wedding party in a classic old convertible a ford. After we walked around the lake and saw a waterfall and beautiful flowers. It is beautiful place to sit and read or picnic.
Everyone enjoyed the walk which is 2 Km walk around it. Today the walk had only 4, Jean, Linda, Ken and Marilyn. Walk was from 10:30-2:30.
Minoru Park is a park located on the site of a former horse-racing track and airstrip in Richmond, British Columbia. The Minoru Park's running track is often used for school competitions, such as track and field. The area is home to the Minoru Arenas, Minoru Track, Minoru Aquatic Centre and Richmond Cultural Centre (which in turn houses the Richmond Public Library's main branch, Richmond Art Gallery and Richmond Museum). All these facilities account for the bulk of community services offered by the city.
