Today, seven members of the Seniors Walking Club gathered in the Seniors Center for coffee and a group photograph taken by Linda.
At 11:30 Chiho picked us up in a van and drove us to Granville Island. There we meandered through the indoor market admiring arts and crafts, checking out the incredibly fresh produce, bakery items and seafood. Outside the entrance to the market was a Central American band playing pan pipes and, on the water side, entertainment was provided by a one-man guitar act ... pigeons were scattered around the plaza by a little girl running and shrieking in delight ... seagulls dive-bombed diners, successfully knocking a plate of food out of a young girls hand ... her dad cleaned it up before the gulls could get to the ill-gotten contraband.
Linda was the fortunate recipient of a sea gull's deposit on her coat sleeve ... two men who witnessed the event told her this was a sign of good luck and she should buy a lottery ticket today.

Harbour ferries skirted back and forth between the south and north shores of False Creek ... after some light refreshment under a light sprinkling of rain, we followed the water's edge past sailboats on scaffolding at the boat works, past several marinas, and under the Granville Bridge to the south shore where we found Island Park Walk .
Beyond Burrard Bridge at Vanier Park we saw several huge white circus tents ... speculation was they were being set up for the annual Children's' Festival ... as we entered Vanier Park walkway, rain began to fall ... fortunately most of us brought umbrellas ... as we neared the Vancouver Maritime Museum the rain overtook us, so we took shelter in the Museum where, after resting awhile, three of our group ventured on to Kitsilano Pool while the rest of us waited for Chiho to pick us up ... we then drove to Kitsilano and met our more ambitious walkers ...
Linda took several photographs of our group: one of Flora and Virginia at the recently constructed long house where totem poles are being carved by First Nations artists; another of Maurice, Linda and Maria beside a painted totem in front of a building occupied by architects; the walking group resting at pigeon square; shots of False Creek and downtown Vancouver from Granville Island, model ships on exhibit at the Maritime Museum and the outdoor swimming pool at Kitsilano ...
Next time we go to that area, we plan to drive to Kitsilano and walk back to Granville Island where we can sit and have a leisurely snack and drink before returning to Britannia Centre ... most of the walking group prefer to eat after the walk when appetites have been whetted and we can enjoy a well-earned rest ...
